PCS, BMS & EMS
Factory process & delivery review

Understand the control layer of an energy system: power conversion, battery supervision, site dispatch, communication interfaces and the tests that connect those parts.

PCS, BMS & EMS · Factory profile

Capability reference

Connect the product to its manufacturing scope.

The existing BESS and microgrid page describes PCS and control integration. This route separates component suppliers from the entity assembling and commissioning the complete system. Read the published reference →

Use this guide to plan a factory discussion. The selected supplier, component scope, inspection plan and delivery responsibilities are confirmed for the actual project.
Process review map

Follow the route from requirements to handover.

These checkpoints organize a customer review. The order-specific manufacturing and test plan defines the work and acceptance criteria.

01Define operating modes

Agree grid-connected, backup or islanded requirements and which device manages each control function.

02Identify suppliers and interfaces

Confirm PCS, battery BMS and EMS models, supported protocols and supplier ownership of each product.

03Review configuration

Discuss protection settings, communication mapping, access permissions, setpoints and firmware versions.

04Verify coordinated behavior

Agree checks for alarms, interlocks, dispatch commands and interaction with generation or the grid.

05Handover the controls

Confirm parameter records, operating guidance, remote-support boundaries and change-management responsibilities.

Buyer review brief

Know what evidence to ask for.

Bring the selected equipment and operating requirements to the discussion. Agree the relevant documents, confidentiality, witness points and handover scope with the project team.

  • Control architecture and responsibility matrix
  • Selected models and communication-interface schedule
  • Protection and operating-mode definitions
  • Functional and interface test plan
  • Configuration, access and software-support handover
Customer questions

Questions before a factory review.

Are PCS, BMS and EMS the same thing?

No. PCS converts electrical power; the battery BMS supervises battery operation and protection; the EMS coordinates energy dispatch at system or site level. The actual division of functions depends on the selected design.

Does this route identify a CIMC-owned factory for every controller?

No. Component manufacture, software supply and system integration may involve different entities. The project review should identify the actual suppliers and their responsibilities before making factory or ownership claims.
